About the collection
Two weaves on one light frame
Baum set out to make a collection that is easy to transport and still reads as Dedon at first glance. The frames are light enough to carry wherever you need a seat, and the pieces stack when you want the space back. Dedon pictures Roii on a beach dune, on a city balcony and next to a pool, and the chairs suit all three.
The frame wears a herringbone weave in Dedon Fiber 'touch', a fiber with a matte surface that feels close to braided leather. Seat and backrest get an open triaxial weave of classic Dedon Fiber. The two patterns sit side by side on every piece, and that contrast gives Roii its look. The herringbone was a new weaving style for Dedon.
The range covers a side chair, an armchair, a lounge chair and a beach chair, plus two heights of barstool: a full barstool and a counter height version. One family can dress a kitchen island, a dining table and a lounge corner. Tobacco, a mix of warm and natural tones, is the signature color, and Dedon also lists silica.
Dedon weaves the pieces by hand on Cebu Island in the Philippines, using fiber it produces in northern Germany. The fiber stands up to chlorine, salt water and sun. For cushions you can choose from fabric families such as Natura, Caleo, Tucson, Gaia, Muse, Nube and Borneo.
