About the collection
An armchair shaped like a leaf
The caladium, also called elephant ear, is an Indonesian plant known for its large, sculpted leaves. Caladio borrows their flowing outline and soft curves. The chair sits well on a wide balcony, a sunny terrace or a quiet corner of the garden, and it stays comfortable with a cushion or without one.
Christoph Kahleyss credits the pairing of materials for the chair's warmth: hand-woven Dedon Fiber in rich color variations over a high-quality wooden frame. The design team says Dedon's master weavers surprised them again and again with their skill and range, and that the care they put in shows in the finished chair.
Dedon weaves Caladio by hand on Cebu Island from fiber it makes in northern Germany, and the fiber resists chlorine, salt water and sun. Add a cushion from families such as Natura, Caleo, Tucson, Gaia, Muse, Nube and Borneo, or leave the weave bare. Clean it with a soft brush, warm water and a mild cleanser.

The designer
Hoffmann & Kahleyss
Birgit Hoffmann and Christoph Kahleyss founded their Hamburg studio in 2013. Besides furniture, they design interiors, exhibition stands and showrooms, and produce photo shoots.
